Installing the TWIN for Orion Windows NT Drivers
------------------------------------------------
Check that Windows NT Version 3.51 is installed on your computer.
The drivers in this release have not been tested on any other version of
this operating system.
Make sure that Windows NT is set to use standard VGA resolution 640x480.
Installation:
1 Run Windows NT Setup by double-clicking on the Control Panel icon
in the Main Group.
2 In the Control Panel window, double-click on Display.
3 Click on Change Display Type
4 Click on Change
5 Click on the Other
6 In the displayed dialog box, enter the path of the floppy disk
usually A:\ and click on OK.
7 Scroll down through the Datapath TWIN resolutions and double-click
on resolution/colours/refresh rate required.
8 A dialog box pops up "This operation will change your system
configuration. Do you wish to proceed anyway?" Click on Yes
9 If asked whether to use Current or New drivers select New.
10 In the displayed dialog box, enter the path of the floppy disk
usually A:\ and click on Continue.
11 Windows NT displays a window showing that the drivers have been
installed successfully. Click on OK
12 Windows NT displays a window showing that the driver cannot be started
dynamically. Click on OK.
13 Remove the floppy disk, then click on Restart Now
14 When the system restarts, it may pop up a dialogue box claiming that
the display resolution is invalid. Windows NT does this whenever a
new display driver is used. This message does not indocate a fault
and may be ignored.
How to recover if you choose a resolution your monitor cant do
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you selected a resolution or refresh rate that your monitor cannot
support, Windows NT provides a way to restart with the last known good
resolution. To return to the last known good resolution at any time:
1 Press the Reset button on your system or turn off the
system and turn it on again.
2 After the normal boot-up messages, the system prompts you to select
the operating system to start. Select Windows NT
or simply wait and Windows NT will be selected by default.
(Be ready for the next step with your finger over the space bar.)
3 After all boot-up messages, the system briefly displays:
OS Loader V3.5
Press spacebar NOW to invoke the Last Known Good menu
You need to press the space bar as this screen is first displayed. This
screen comes and goes so quickly, you should keep your finger over the
space bar after the operating system selection in the previous step.
4 A text screen is displayed labeled Configuration Recovery Menu.
Follow the directions on the screen. You should choose the Last Known
Good option.
